Cognitive retraining and redeveloping my fine motor skills were the 2 toughest challenges after my Traumatic Brain Injury. I couldnt differentiate between letters, numbers, colors, etc. it was weird. Couldnt really text either, and thats a problem.
I built this application to regain my tap accuracy on my left hand after the stroke. As a righty, I hold the phone with that hand, and utilize my left thumb for navigational purposes. I needed it back!
One more thing that effects TBI and stroke victims is something called hemi-neglect. You pretty much have no grasp on anything that has to do with the affected side. Example, I had left hemi-neglect, and in my Occupational Therapy theyd ask me to draw a clock. The numbers 12-11, in a circle, like a standard clock. Upon my first completion, I had neatly drawn 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Exactly one half of the right side of the clock, however to me it appeared completely normal. The hemi-neglect in action.
I added in the swipe direction to address that as well, to keep leaning on the weak side and make it stronger. After playing long enough, (4 months) my fingers and hand eye coordination got sharper, texts became more accurate, thumbs became more efficient, characters became more recognizable, and even more things that Im discovering everyday.
Maybe it can help you, too. Its Free in the appstore.
Took me about 4 minutes to complete all the rounds, when I was in recovery. Now (3 years later) its down to about 1, but Ive been playing for a while.
